Social Investment Fund (SIF)

CEDEP facilitated this project in the Sefwi Wiawso District of the Western Region of Ghana. The SIF is one of the poverty reduction programmes of the government and it delivers social infrastructure (schools, clinics, boreholes etc) and micro-credit to both rural and urban poor.

It uses the demand-driven approach so communities and groups have to apply for its assistance before it intervenes. Under the project, CEDEP sensitized 62 communities about the SIF and mobilized them to identify their felt needs. It guided them to prepare 64 sub-project proposals, which the communities forwarded to a District Sub-Project Approval Committee (DISPRAC) for approval.
