National Poverty Reduction Project (NPRP)

The NPRP was a pilot project to reduce poverty implemented by the Government of Ghana with UNDP funding. It was piloted in 5 districts. In each district, an NGO facilitated the marketing, capacity building and community mobilization aspects. CEDEP facilitated that of the Juaboso-Bia District of the Western Region of Ghana. CEDEP’s role on the project was to help the communities and groups to identify, assess, cost and implement programmes and projects that met their felt needs. CEDEP worked in partnership with the Juaboso-Bia District Assembly to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the project activities.

NaRMSIP Boafo Ye Na Project - Sustainable Livelihoods Project

CEDEP implemented two projects in the Kumasi peri-urban interface. The first- natural resource management implementation plan (NaRMSIP), which was plan preparation with the 12 peri-urban communities, was followed by the plan implementation project (also called Boafo Ye Na Project). The communities named the project BOAFO Yε NA– a popular phrase, meaning”Helpers are scarce”.

Upper West Poverty Alleviation and Advocacy Project

This programme identified and managed activities related to gender, community resource development and youth-oriented programmes in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions. CEDEP initiated the programme based on experiences from the NGO support project. The project used a gender-differentiated approach to provide farmers with requisite skills and financial support to improve yield and quality.
