Schooling Improvement Project (SIP)

This was a World Bank Funded Ministry of Education project implemented by CEDEP in three regions – Brong Ahafo, Western and Northern. The project facilitated community ownership of decisions and actions about the running of the schools in their communities. This led to the formation of School Management Committees (SMCs). Part of the community actions was annual meeting to evaluate students’ results, discussing reasons for successes and failures. The project also supported improvement in teaching and learning by providing teaching and learning aids and supporting SMCs to create enabling environment for teachers to stay- providing accommodation, advancing monies to newly posted teachers.

Youth Empowerment Initiative Project (YEIP)

This was a CAFOD funded project, which was implemented in Kumasi. The main objective was to empower the youth by facilitating access to relevant development information for them to make informed decisions. The youth were exposed to various health, education, livelihood, gender, governance information in learning and sharing workshops and interactions with the relevant agencies.

Girl-Child Education Project

Community-driven project initiated by some head teachers and traditional authorities from Asamang (Afigya Sekyere district), Jacobu (Amansie Central district), and Watreso (Amansie West district) and was supported and implemented by CEDEP - The aim of the project was to sensitise community members about the imperatives of girl-child education. CEDEP collaborated with GES, NCCE, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and political Leaders in these areas to sensitise the communities about girl-child education using various means including the media, music, poetry, and theatre arts.
